Rare copy of Picture Post 5/9/42 for sale. Humphrey Spender [1910-2005] was at Newhaven to photograph the return of 3 Commando, and Lord Lovat's No.4 Commando from Operation Jubilee, the raid on Dieppe on the 19 August 1942.
No.4 Commando attacked a German coastal battery at Varengeville-sur-mer, and were the only unit to succeed in it's objective.
The article also features the work of Lieutenant L. Pelman , a Royal Navy photographer who documented the raid from the escort destroyer HMS. Albrighton.
The rare magazine is complete and in very good condition.
