Capa accompanied Colonel Darby's Ranger Battalions (1st / 3rd / 4th) that landed at Anzio on 22/1/44. The landings went ahead with very little opposition. Capa recorded the Luftwaffe's bombing of the invasion fleet. Capa also documented the attempted breakout from the beach head towards Cisterna Di Latina.
