An original rare copy of Picture Post containing a seven page article 'The Tragedy of Spain', which features seventeen Robert Capa photographs.
On the 15th January 1939, Capa travelled along the Barcelona to Tarragona road to record the refugees fleeing the fighting. The columns came under attack from Fascist planes, who strafed the open roads. Capa captures the horror and carnage in the aftermath of these attacks, which he summed up:
"I have seen hundreds and thousands flee thus, in two countries, Spain and China, and I am afraid to think that hundreds of thousands of others who are yet living in undisturbed peace in other countries will one day meet with the same fate."
This 71 year old magazine is complete and in good original condition. There are some repaired edge tears and the staples have been replaced.
