Robert Capa 'A Short Trip To France' Illustrated 5th December 1942

Robert Capa visited Chelveston the home of 301st Bomb Group of the 8th USAAF. He documents the build up and return of B17F's of the 32nd Bomb Squadron raid on submarine pens in occupied France.
One of his images appeared on the cover but was hastily replaced when it was seen to clearly show the top secret Norden bombsight.
The 301st moved to North Africa where Capa photographed them again.
