A photo essay documenting the planning and execution of an airborne exercise prior to Operation Varsity. The gliders are towed by aircraft of 38 Group RAF and are released to land on the airfield at Great Sampford in Essex.
Lt.Col Stewart Caithie Griffith DFC, England and Sussex cricketer and co. of No.2 Wing Glider Pilot Regiment is featured in the photographs. Major Hugh Tyron Barlett DFC, also a Sussex cricketer is shown during a briefing.
