Robert Capa Teruel Life Magazine January 1938

An original copy of LIFE, with the first major photo story of Capa's to be featured in the magazine.
Capa joined the Loyalist  counter attack on the strategically important town of Teruel.  If Teruel fell it would open the way to the Mediterranean for Franco's troops cutting communications between Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia for the Loyalists. Capa arrived on December 21st 1937, where he joined Hemingway who was reporting on the battle.   Capa entered Teruel around the 2/1/37 to record the fierce house to house fighting centred on the Civil Governer's Palace.
