Signal U96 Lothar Günther Buchheim 'Das Boot'

An original French language copy of Signal magazine. The cover and photo essay feature photographs taken by Lothar Günther Buchheim, a war correspondent aboard U96. Kapitän Willenbrock and the crew of U96 were on their 7th patrol, leaving St. Nazaire on the 27th October 1941. The patrol lasted for 41 days and included a mid Atlantic encounter with U572.
Buchheim experiences on patrol with U96 led to him writing the novel 'Das Boot' about the experiences of a U Boat crew during the Battle of the Atlantic.
