W. Eugene Smith Man of Mercy Life 15th November 1954

W Eugene Smith's photo essay entitled 'Man of Mercy' documented the work of Albert Schweitzer at Lamberne in French Equatorial Africa (now Gabon). Schweitzer won the nobel prize in 1952 and used the money from this to fund the foundation of a new hospital.
Life magazine published 25 of Smith's images over 12 pages.
